A common shipwreck is sweet.

When you find someone who gets you (or as it happens more often, gets a part of you.)  That is something. 

Of course, I'm talking about understanding.  Sure, we've all got our own stories, but now and then, things line up with another and that just DOES SOMETHING to my heart.  It's something like what geneticists call Homologous Recombination -  when things that are the same are set side by side and cross over, mix and mesh.  And once two chromosomes undergo homologous recombination, good luck seperating them again.

Two fellows just pulled up to my driveway and have now laid down to rest on our basement couch.  They each spent a year of their lives doing a certain thing that I myself did for a year of mine and it's nothing short of astounding how we can stand in the kitchen eating fruit and chat like old friends. (15 minutes ago, we weren't old friends-  one I met the first time and one was just an acquaintence.  That's not the case anymore, though.)

Here's all I'm saying- we are all very, very different.  And in some certain ways that I've come to cherish, we are all essentially the same.  Lately, I've been trying to really grasp that and not let go.
